Smart Infinity brings AI noise cancellation to calls, even on older phones
Smart Communications has launched an AI-powered noise cancellation feature called PureVoice for its premium Smart Infinity subscribers in the Philippines. The service allows users to filter out background noise during calls on any phone without requiring additional apps or hardware.
Why it matters
This represents a trend of telecommunications companies leveraging AI to enhance legacy voice services and provide value-added features to premium customer segments.
Tycoon Manuel V. Pangilinan-backed Smart Communications is introducing artificial intelligence-powered noise cancellation for mobile calls, starting exclusively with its premium Smart Infinity subscribers in a move to improve traditional voice services. The PLDT Group's wireless arm launched PureVoice on November 6, allowing Infinity members to filter out background noise during regular calls even on older phones without built-in noise cancellation.
The service removes distractions such as traffic, crowds and music without requiring a separate app or additional setup, with users simply pressing 8# during a call to turn the feature on or off.
"Voice remains the quintessential service of any telecommunications company," Smart officer-in-charge Lloyd R. Manaloto said in a statement on Friday.
