Apple will charge for more Siri AI access

Apple has introduced daily usage limits for its new Siri AI features that rely on cloud processing. The company has indicated that while these features are currently free, expanded access may require a paid subscription in the future.
Why it matters
This move signals a shift in the business model for consumer AI, where high-compute features may transition from being included in hardware costs to a recurring service fee.
Siri AI, the rebuilt Siri that Apple started rolling out in beta on 14th September 2026, comes with a daily allowance. Apple's fine print says features that rely on its servers "are subject to daily usage limits". The company names Siri AI, the photo editing tools (Clean Up, Extend and Spatial Reframing), Image Playground and the AFM 3 Cloud models in Shortcuts. It also says: "Expanded access to such features will be available for a fee in the future."
So if you use Siri AI a lot, you'll want to know two things:
how much you can use it before it stops, and
what it will cost to keep going.
Apple hasn't answered either. Its pages give no number for any limit, no price, no plan name and no date.
Why there's a limit at all
