President Bola Tinubu urged voters in Rivers State to back his re-election campaign on Saturday at a packed stadium in Port Harcourt, praising local leaders for ending a bitter political feud.
The event at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium was organised by the Rainbow Coalition and drew thousands of supporters, according to local reports from the weekend gathering.
The gathering marked a major turning point for the state after years of turmoil between the current governor and his predecessor, which had previously forced federal intervention.
President Tinubu commended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara for his restraint during the governance crisis that disrupted the state administration.
“During the political crisis caused by a misunderstanding in the family, I intervened on your behalf,” said President Bola Tinubu, according to Vanguard News and Premium Times.

“I thank Governor Fubara, in particular, for his maturity, understanding, and respect for the wisdom of elders when we intervened,” Tinubu said.
Governor Fubara echoed those sentiments and thanked the federal administration for helping restore order to the region after months of legislative disputes and threats of removal.
“The time of war is over; it's time of peace,” said Siminalayi Fubara, the Rivers State Governor, according to Sahara Reporters.
“We cannot continue to fight and expect the state to move forward,” Fubara said.
The governor also publicly aligned himself with the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, who leads the regional coalition supporting the presidential campaign.
Fubara promised that local voters would deliver at least three million ballots for the incumbent ticket during the national vote scheduled for January 16, 2027.

Minister Nyesom Wike praised the president for directing federal infrastructure projects to the region and handing out numerous appointments to local indigenes.
Vice President Kashim Shettima also addressed the crowd, defending the economic record of the federal administration and criticizing political opponents.
Campaign organizers noted that the massive turnout demonstrated broad regional backing, though opposition figures have questioned the administration's economic reforms.
Voters across the region must now decide whether to trust the newly forged alliances as campaigns expand ahead of the 2027 national elections.
