Apple introduced a new 14-inch MacBook Pro equipped with the M6 chip on Monday, delivering increased performance, faster connectivity and extended battery life.
The updated laptop starts at $1,999 with 16GB of memory. Preorders begin on Tuesday, October 28, and shipments are scheduled to arrive on Friday, November 6.
The release targets college students, business users and creators by bringing advanced processing speeds and on-device artificial intelligence tools to a portable design.

"The 14-inch MacBook Pro is the pro laptop of choice for a wide range of users — from college students, to business professionals across every industry, to multidisciplinary creators doing it all on one device," said Shelly Goldberg, Apple’s vice president of Hardware Engineering.
The M6 processor features a 12-core CPU and a 12-core graphics processing unit designed to handle demanding workflows and complex tasks efficiently.
Apple reported that the new graphics unit delivers up to 30 percent faster graphics performance and up to 25 percent faster artificial intelligence workloads compared to the previous M5 model.
"With the powerful M6 chip, we’re taking performance to the next level, with a boost in CPU speed and graphics and even more powerful capabilities for on-device AI," said Goldberg.
The device includes Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 connectivity, a 12-megapixel Center Stage camera and a Liquid Retina XDR display.

Battery life reaches up to 24 hours under normal usage conditions, according to the company.
The announcement follows separate reports from industry analysts anticipating additional hardware updates from the company later in the week.
It remains unresolved whether higher-end models featuring M6 Pro and M6 Max chips will debut during the current event cycle or be delayed until next year.
