A woman is in stable condition after being shot in the leg during an assault in Mount Wellington, Auckland. Police are investigating the incident, and two suspects initially detained have been released without charge.

<p>A woman is in a stable condition in hospital after being shot in the leg during an assault in Auckland's Mount Wellington last night. </p> <p>At around 8pm, ambulance staff advised police an injured woman had been found at a property on Mt Wellington Highway. </p> <p>Auckland City CIB Acting Detective Inspector Craig Bolton said officers attended a short time later and cleared the address.</p> <p>"The woman was taken to hospital in a serious condition after being assaulted and suffering a gunshot injury to her leg," he said.
