Hoima, Uganda | URN | Uganda Cranes defeated Libya 1-0 in a 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier played at the newly constructed Hoima City Stadium. Arnold Vula scored Uganda’s only goal in the 45th minute after rising to head Allan Okello’s free kick into the back of the net, giving the hosts the lead shortly before halftime.
The goal was enough to secure victory for the Cranes in front of thousands of football fans who travelled from different parts of the country to witness the historic encounter. The match was the first international football fixture to be played at the newly constructed Hoima City Stadium, marking a significant moment for football in the Bunyoro Sub-region.
