Bestselling British author and former politician Jeffrey Archer has passed away at the age of 86. Known for his prolific writing career and political involvement, Archer's death was confirmed by his publisher, HarperCollins.

Bestselling British author and former politician Jeffrey Archer has died at the age of 86, his publisher HarperCollins said. Archer, whose books sold more than 300 million copies during a five-decade writing career, died “suddenly and peacefully at home” on Monday between writing sessions.Archer was best known for bestselling novels including Kane and Abel and the Clifton Chronicles. His final novel, Adam and Eve, is due to be released on October 6. He was also scheduled to appear at the Cheltenham Festival on Saturday to discuss the book.
