Why it matters
This highlights Apple's evolving approach to repairability and maintenance for foldable display technology, which is a critical concern for consumer longevity.
In a recent interview with content creator Angelica Siciliani Fendi , Apple's vice president of hardware engineering Kate Bergeron revealed that the iPhone Duo's nano-texture cover layer above the inner display can be removed and replaced.
"It's actually replaceable, which is a really nice thing for the customer that you can peel off that layer and get a new one," said Bergeron.
In the U.S., customers who purchase AppleCare+ coverage for the iPhone Duo can get the cover layer replaced for $19, according to Apple's website . The cost to replace the cover layer without coverage has yet to be disclosed.
