Rajinikanth Surprises Fans at Chennai Screening While Box Office Rises

Superstar Rajinikanth watched his blockbuster film Jailer 2 with supporters at a Chennai theater on October 24, 2026, marking a rare public screening appearance after four decades.

The action drama earned 24.15 crore rupees in India net collections on its tenth day, according to Sacnilk data cited by The Times of India.

Pinkvilla reported that the film crossed the 400-crore-rupee gross milestone in India within 10 days, becoming the fourth Tamil film to achieve the mark.

Strong box office momentum matters because the sequel continues to sustain high occupancy rates across multiple language versions nationwide.

Production house Sun Pictures posted on X that for the first time in 40 years, the lead actor joined fans to witness the release on the big screen.

Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the film follows a retired jailer whose peaceful life faces a sudden threat from the criminal underworld.

The production features an ensemble cast including Mohanlal, Shivarajkumar, Vidya Balan, and Ramya Krishnan.

The Times of India reported that the feature recorded an average of 20,835 rupees per show across 11,591 screenings on its second Saturday.

Pinkvilla reported that the film grossed 416 crore rupees total in India after ten days in release.

Territorial data showed Tamil Nadu leading domestic earnings with 155.50 crore rupees according to trade estimates.

The Hindu review stated, "Jailer 2 ends with a hint at a possible third film."

The review added, "Whether the Jailer template could sustain one more film, we can’t say yet."

The film continues its theatrical run as trade analysts monitor whether it can surpass previous regional box office records.
