A neighbor shot and killed a forty-two-year-old senior technology executive in Faridabad on Friday evening following a bitter dispute over parking, leaving family members and police scrambling to respond to the violence.
The victim, identified as Paramjeet Dhankar, had returned home from Singapore just days earlier to celebrate a festival and attend a family wedding.
The killing exposes deep safety concerns in residential neighborhoods where personal disputes involving licensed firearms can quickly escalate into fatal encounters.
“About 14-15 rounds were fired, of which eight or nine reportedly hit the victim,” said Surajkund police station SHO Inspector Pahlad.

According to the police, the confrontation began when the suspect, Mohan Sharma, demanded that Dhankar move his car from the parking area.
Sharma allegedly pulled out a licensed pistol and opened fire on Dhankar and his nineteen-year-old son, Shaurya, who managed to escape unhurt by hiding behind parked vehicles.
Prior to the shooting, the two families had clashed over a broken parking gate and a dispute involving a dog.
Dhankar had previously gone to a local police post to lodge a complaint against Sharma after his son was allegedly abused.
Police officials stated that threats were exchanged at the police post hours before the murder took place.
Reports from India Today noted that Sharma fled the scene with his family immediately after the shooting incident.

However, The Hindu and the Times of India reported that police subsequently arrested Sharma following the filing of a formal first information report.
Investigators recovered empty cartridge cases from the crime scene as forensic teams gathered evidence.
The formal police complaint also names five family members of the accused in connection with the case.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the background of the suspect and the possession of multiple licensed firearms.
