Motorola unveiled the Signature 27 on Wednesday, a high-end smartphone priced at $1,600 that marks the company's first major push into the ultra-premium market for non-folding devices in six years.
The device features a 6.8-inch tandem OLED display capable of reaching a peak brightness of 12,000 nits, which the manufacturer claims is the brightest screen currently available on any smartphone.
Preorders for the Signature 27 begin on November 19, with the phone scheduled to reach retail shelves on November 26.
The release represents a strategic shift for Motorola, which has recently focused its premium efforts on folding Razr models rather than traditional slab-style flagship phones.

By entering this price bracket, the company is positioning the Signature 27 to compete directly against established high-end offerings from Samsung and Apple.
The phone is equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor, 12 gigabytes of RAM, and 512 gigabytes of internal storage.
It also includes a 7,000-mAh silicon-carbon battery and carries an IP68 and IP69 rating, indicating high levels of resistance to dust and water.
The camera system features a 50-megapixel main sensor and a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens, supplemented by a specialized sensor designed to improve image clarity for moving subjects.

Motorola describes the addition as an "Event-Based Vision Sensor," which the company says will help "capture fast-moving subjects with greater clarity and precision."
The device is finished in ceramic and brushed aluminum, with two color options available: Pantone Capulet Olive and Pantone Coal Smoke.
The Signature 27 also includes Bang & Olufsen-tuned audio and supports seven years of operating system upgrades, matching the support policies of major competitors.
While the hardware specifications are robust, industry analysts remain divided on whether the device can successfully challenge the dominance of Samsung and Apple in the luxury smartphone segment.
