A Massachusetts judge on Monday signaled that a potential retrial for Lindsay Clancy, who is accused of murdering her three children, could be scheduled for March 2027.
Judge William Sullivan of Plymouth Superior Court set a November 16 hearing to address pending motions, including a defense request to dismiss the first-degree murder charges.
The case, which centers on the 2023 deaths of Clancy's three children in their Duxbury home, ended in a mistrial this September after a jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict.
The proceedings remain a critical test of the insanity defense, as the defense argues Clancy suffered from postpartum psychosis while prosecutors claim she acted with intent.

"I will not have this woman sit in jail for another year or two or three," said Kevin Reddington, the defense attorney for Clancy. "I want a trial, and I want it with you, and I want it this spring."
Prosecutor Jennifer Sprague told the court that the state’s decision on how to proceed with a retrial remains dependent on the judge’s upcoming rulings on various defense motions.
"This would be a retrial - as to what that looks like will depend," said Sprague.
Reddington expressed frustration with the prosecution's lack of clarity regarding whether they intend to pursue the original first-degree murder charges or seek lesser counts.
The hearing also featured arguments regarding a holdout juror from the initial trial, with the defense requesting access to the juror's records and questionnaire.
Heather O'Connor, an attorney representing the holdout juror, stated that the defense is attempting to combine various allegations to challenge the validity of the mistrial declaration.
Clancy, who remains held at Tewksbury Hospital, did not testify during the summer trial and continues to face the possibility of life in prison if convicted of murder.
Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz did not confirm future plans for the case outside the courtroom, stating only that he would speak further on November 16.
