Indian border forces and Chinese troops engaged in ongoing military standoffs at multiple locations across Arunachal Pradesh, prompting political fallout and renewed concerns over regional security.
The confrontations were publicly acknowledged on Thursday by Indo-Tibetan Border Police Director General Shatrujeet Kapur during an address to troops in Rajasthan.
Kapur stated that face-offs had happened at several locations in Arunachal Pradesh and that the situation still continues.
The border friction comes as relations between New Delhi and Beijing remain sensitive following previous deadly clashes in the Galwan Valley in June 2020.

"In the past few days, a situation arose where face-off happened at several locations in Arunachal and it still continues," said Shatrujeet Kapur, the director general.
The Ministry of External Affairs did not address the specific tactical details of the latest encounters, attributing border disturbances to shifting patrol routes.
"As we have noted in the past, the situation in India-China border areas gets disturbed from time to time when Chinese forces diverge from established patrolling patterns," said Randhir Jaiswal, the ministry spokesperson.
Opposition parties immediately seized on the admissions to criticize Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demanding a comprehensive account of the security situation in Parliament.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge accused the government of failing to protect national interests and demanded greater accountability regarding territorial patrols.
"Enough clean chits to China. PM Modi must come clean before India!" said Mallikarjun Kharge, the Congress president.
To counter modern capabilities deployed by the People's Liberation Army, Kapur announced the creation of specialized combat units known as Shaurya commandos.
The border police force has also allocated significant funding toward acquiring advanced drone and anti-drone warfare systems to meet evolving tactical challenges.
Diplomatic and military mechanisms between the two nations remain active as officials attempt to resolve outstanding disputes and prevent further escalation along the border.
