Alphabet reported that Google Search accounted for less than 50 percent of total corporate revenue for the first time during the third quarter, even as artificial intelligence investments drove a significant increase in overall queries.
The technology company posted consolidated revenues of $127.6 billion for the quarter ending in September 2026, marking a 25 percent increase from the same period in the previous year.
Google Search revenue grew 12 percent year-over-year to $63.4 billion, representing 49.7 percent of the total corporate revenue according to financial data from the quarter.
The milestone arrives as core search advertising growth decelerates from previous quarters, increasing pressure on the company to monetize new artificial intelligence features.

Chief Executive Sundar Pichai said in a statement that artificial intelligence investments are expanding usage across platforms.
“Our AI investments are driving overall Search query growth, including commercial queries,” said Sundar Pichai, the chief executive officer of Google.
Pichai added that the year-over-year query growth rate reached its highest level in the last 5 years.
Google also expanded advertisements within artificial intelligence overviews to international markets for the first time.
“We are now scaling high-quality ads within AI overviews in AI mode to more users and queries,” said Philipp Schindler, the chief business officer of Google.
Google Cloud revenue surged 103 percent year-over-year to reach $30.7 billion, becoming an increasingly large driver of overall corporate growth.

Financial markets reacted cautiously to the deceleration in core advertising growth, and Alphabet shares fell 8 percent following the earnings release.
Pichai also told investors that queries in AI mode are 3 times longer on average than traditional searches.
“People are using our AI features more, searching in entirely new ways,” said Sundar Pichai, the chief executive officer of Google.
Alphabet executives must now determine whether global artificial intelligence ad expansion can offset slowing growth in traditional search advertising streams.
