Beau Lamarre-Condon allegedly confessed to killing two men, telling a friend he experienced an out-of-body sensation and used his service weapon during the attack in Sydney.
Lamarre-Condon, 31, faces trial in the New South Wales Supreme Court on two counts of murder regarding the deaths of Jesse Baird, 26, and Luke Davies, 29, on February 19, 2024.
The former police officer has pleaded not guilty to the charges and is putting forward a defence of self-defence.
The witness, whose identity remains suppressed under court orders, told the jury that the accused arrived at his workplace in a rental vehicle on the day of the killings.
The friend testified that the defendant told him he had done something wrong and needed assistance to clean the crime scene and move the bodies.
When the witness asked how the incident occurred, the accused replied that he used a firearm and made a hand gesture.
“I shot the first one through the head and the second one through the door,” said the witness, recounting the alleged confession to the court.
The friend stated that Lamarre-Condon explained the second person was shot because he could not leave any witnesses behind after hearing someone attempt to call authorities.
The witness declined the request to leave work and help clean up, according to testimony delivered before the jury.
Lamarre-Condon later contacted the friend via video call to claim the entire conversation was a joke, leaving the recipient angry.
“It’s not a fucking joke, you’re mentally fucking with me,” said the witness, describing his response to the accused during their interaction.
The trial continues as the court examines further evidence regarding the movements of the accused following the shooting deaths.
