Apple announced on Friday that more than 100,000 applications are now optimized for the iPhone Duo, as the company seeks to address early criticism regarding the device's software compatibility.
The company stated that thousands of additional optimized apps are being added to the App Store every day, following the initial launch of the $1,999 foldable smartphone.
The availability of software designed for the unique 4:3 inner display is critical for the device, as non-optimized apps often appear with black bars or cramped layouts.
“It’s been wonderful to see how quickly developers have embraced iPhone Duo, and we’re grateful for their creativity and innovation,” said Susan Prescott, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations.

Prescott added, “The enthusiasm has been incredible, and we’re excited to see the pace of updates continue to accelerate as more and more apps optimize for iPhone Duo.”
The company held over 50 in-person workshops across 19 cities worldwide to assist more than 2,000 developers in adapting their software for the new hardware.
New updates include versions of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Zoom, and various sports and productivity applications that utilize the larger screen real estate.
Despite the announcement, some users and reviewers report that certain popular apps still do not fully utilize the inner display, appearing centered with empty space on the sides.

The Verge reported that while the hardware is highly regarded, the device remains a first-generation product that faces challenges with software integration compared to established Android alternatives.
Apple confirmed that it is adding a "Made for iPhone Duo" badge to product pages to help customers identify which apps are fully compatible with the folding screen.
High demand has led to the device selling out, with shipping times for new orders currently pushed into next year as Apple navigates ongoing supply constraints.
It remains unclear how quickly the remaining library of iOS applications will be updated to support the device's specific dimensions.
