PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa has hailed surging investment in Zimbabwe’s tourism sector, which rose to US$132.3 million in the first half of 2026, as he called for stronger value chains to ensure the country derives maximum benefit from the industry.
Tourism is Zimbabwe’s third-largest economic sector, contributing approximately 5.7% to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and supporting about 3.5% of national employment.
The sector is also a key foreign currency earner, with foreign currency receipts reaching US$1.2 billion annually.
Speaking at the official opening of the 19th Sanganai/Hlanganani Annual Tourism Trade Fair in Masvingo, Mnangagwa commended the investments being made in the sector.
