Zimbabwe Places Heritage and AI at the Heart of Tourism Transformation

Ethiopia is preparing to integrate artificial intelligence into its core school curriculum under the Digital Ethiopia 2030 programme, in a system serving almost 27 million students in general education and more than 828,000 in higher education.

The scale is the first thing worth registering. Ethiopia runs one of Africa's largest education systems, and curriculum change at that size is a logistics problem before it is a pedagogical one.

What has already been built

The groundwork is infrastructure rather than instruction. Under the preceding five-year phase of the Digital Ethiopia programme, secondary schools across the country were equipped with computer laboratories and connected to the internet, with similar work under way in higher education.

The government has also adopted an official competency assessment system as part of its roadmap for education and vocational training, including a restructuring of the national examination system intended to encourage greater student independence.
