Zeffer sale: Wairoa iwi business buys Fernhill drinks maker
The Hawke’s Bay-based beverage company Zeffer has been acquired by Tātau Tātau Commercial, the business arm of a Treaty settlement governance entity. This acquisition is part of a broader strategy to integrate fruit growing with beverage processing.

Hawke’s Bay cider and drinks producer Zeffer has been sold to the commercial arm of Treaty post-settlement governance entity Tātau Tātau o Te Wairoa.
The sale to Tātau Tātau Commercial (known as E Tipu) was announced yesterday, and is the next step in E Tipu’s apple strategy.
The acquisition brings established drinks manufacturing into E Tipu’s horticulture business, taking the group beyond growing and packing fruit and into processing it.
Zeffer will continue to operate from the Fernhill site it bought nine years ago as it moved from Matakana, north of Auckland, and will maintain continuity for its existing team, customers and partners.
