Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB) Communications Department has called for greater responsibility among broadcasters in the airing of advertisements and programs involving unapproved medical products and spiritual claims.
Speaking at the Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authority (ZAMRA) and Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) Stakeholder Engagement Meeting on the Airing of Advertisements of Unapproved Medical Products and Spiritual Claims on Radio and Television, ZCCB Communications Officer, Ms. Sandra Kunda, said in her presentation that media content should be truthful, ethical, and respectful of human dignity.
Ms. Kunda expressed concern over content that promotes unapproved medical products, creates false hope among vulnerable people, or presents spiritual claims as guaranteed solutions to health, financial, relationship, or personal challenges.
