Country music star Zach Bryan sparked controversy after wearing a 'Free Palestine' shirt during a concert at Gillette Stadium. The incident drew attention due to the venue owner's previous public stance against similar political messaging from other performers.
Why it matters
It highlights the ongoing tension between artists using their platforms for political expression and the expectations of venue owners and concert-goers.
Zach Bryan made his position known without saying a word. The country music superstar walked onto the stage at Gillette Stadium Friday night wearing a shirt that said "Free Palestine." His shirt appeared to some to be a pointed message at the venue owned by New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, who recently barred Macklemore from performing at the stadium over what Kraft described as the rapper's "broader history of antisemitic rhetoric and imagery."
