YSRCP urges State Election Commission to defer municipal rolls until SIR completion
The YSRCP has requested that the Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission delay municipal elections until the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls is finalized. The party argues that using current draft data would lead to significant inconsistencies and the exclusion of genuine voters.

The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) has submitted a representation requesting that the Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission (SEC) conduct elections for Municipal Corporations, Municipalities, and Nagar Panchayats only after the completion of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and the publication of final electoral rolls.
The YSRCP State general secretary Lella Appi Reddy, in the letter, raised concerns over the SEC’s current directive requiring authorities to publish ward-wise photo electoral rolls using January 1, 2026, as the qualifying date. The YSRCP leader pointed out that draft Assembly electoral rolls published on July 31, 2026, revealed significant discrepancies across all 175 constituencies, placing approximately 42 lakh entries under scrutiny and leading to the deletion of 44.89 lakh entries. These deletions included roughly 15.22 lakh deceased voters and 7.37 lakh duplicate or multiple registrations, alongside numerous untraceable or shifted individuals.
