The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) student wing has demanded an independent probe, including by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), into the recruitment of police constables in Andhra Pradesh, alleging that the selection process raised doubts over transparency.
Addressing the media at the party central office on Sunday, its State president Panuganti Chaitanya and working president A. Ravichandra demanded that the government place complete recruitment data in the public domain.
They questioned the addition of 79 backlog posts to the 6,100 constable vacancies notified during the previous YSRCP government. Under what rules the additional posts were included and to which categories they were allotted, they sought to know. If 79 posts were added to 6,100, the total should be 6,179, they said, questioning the government’s claim that 6,100 posts were filled.
