YSRCP slams State government’s decision to shift NIELIT from Tirupati to Mangalagiri

Tirupati MP Maddila Gurumoorthy said that the State government’s decision to shift the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) from Tirupati to Mangalagiri is a ‘grave injustice’ to Rayalaseema.
The institute was temporarily set up at SVU campus in 2022 and the nod for the permanent campus was officially given in January 2024. The Union Ministry of Electronics and IT accorded the administrative approval for setting up the institute with an estimated cost of ₹8.50 crore (MeitY’s contribution ₹6.93 crore and NIELIT’s contribution ₹1.57 crore). A grant-in-aid of ₹1 crore was even released to NIELIT Chennai during the financial year 2023-24 for taking the project forward.
