Students and parents have been protesting for the past few days, opposing the Andhra Pradesh government’s decision to discontinue the existing school in its present form. The protestors have also sought a Government Order for the continuation of the school, citing the interests of tribal students currently studying there.
The State Government has announced plans to upgrade the institution as a Centre of Excellence (CoE), with a focus on providing coaching to Intermediate students to prepare them for national-level entrance examinations. However, parents and students have been opposing the proposal, insisting that the existing residential school should not be discontinued.
