YSRCP demands swift completion of Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Scheme
The YSRCP has demanded the immediate completion of the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Scheme, accusing the current government of neglecting regional water projects. The party claims that previous initiatives by Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy are being undermined by political pacts.

The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) on Tuesday (August 4, 2026) demanded the immediate completion of Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Scheme for the benefit of the region.
YSRCP Anantapur district president Anantha Venkatarami Reddy, former minister Sake Sailajanath, and others inspected the Gorukally and Owk reservoirs in Nandyal district as part of an inspection programme for irrigation projects in the Rayalaseema region.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Venkatarami Reddy said, “Irrigation projects gained momentum only after Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy became Chief Minister. The credit for increasing the capacity of the Pothireddypadu Head Regulator to 44,000 cusecs goes to the late Rajasekhara Reddy. It was thanks to his initiative that work on the Handri-Neeva project was taken up at a rapid pace. It was due to his efforts that Krishna waters began flowing through the Handri-Neeva project from 2012,” Mr Venkatarami Reddy said.
