The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) on Tuesday (July 14, 2026) accused the State government of failing to address the agrarian crisis and neglecting the interests of farmers in Rayalaseema region.
Addressing the media in Vijayawada, YSRCP State general secretary Gadikota Srikanth Reddy alleged that the government had not responded adequately to the drought conditions. He claimed that three months into the kharif season, farmers were unable to begin sowing due to inadequate rainfall and a lack of irrigation water. He further alleged that no contingency plan had been prepared and no review meetings had been held to assess the situation.
Mr. Srikanth Reddy stated that, with no prospect of water release from the Srisailam reservoir, the government had failed to protect farmers’ interests. He also alleged that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was focusing on political attacks instead of addressing the issues raised by the opposition.
