India under-19 captain Yashbardhan Singh Chauhan claimed six wickets as his team registered an innings and 48-run victory over Australia u-19 in the first Youth Test at the Niranjan Shah Stadium here on Tuesday.
After Lakshya Raichandani (240, 281b, 24x4, 4x6) and Mohit Ulva (92, 84b, 10x4, 4x6) shared a massive 180-run partnership for the ninth wicket to take India to 494 and a 277-run lead, the Australian batters had little answer to the Indian spinners.
With the temperature soaring, wickets fell in clusters as off-spinner Yashbardhan (six for 75) and left-arm spinner Ishan Om (four for 62) kept the pressure on.
Australia was eventually bowled out for 229, barely an hour after tea on the third day.
