Youth slits girl’s throat, dies after jumping from building in Vijayawada

A 22-year-old youth allegedly slit the throat of a 19-year-old girl and later jumped from a multi-storeyed building at New Rajarajeswaripeta in Vijayawada on Saturday.
The youth, M. Chinna Rao, a native of Srikakulam district, died on the spot after suffering multiple injuries, according to the police. He had reportedly migrated to Vijayawada a couple of years ago.
Police said Chinna Rao had allegedly been stalking the girl, Mahalakshmi, and had proposed marriage to her. He had also reportedly approached her family seeking their consent for the marriage, but they rejected his proposal.
Mahalakshmi was admitted to the Government General Hospital (GGH) for treatment. Her condition was stated to be critical.
