The police on Friday arrested a youth for allegedly murdering an unidentified woman beggar in Palamaner town after she caught hold of him and raised an alarm when he attacked her in an inebriated condition.
The accused, Satish Kumar of Ambedkar Nagar in Palamaner, was arrested at the Chittoor railway station. The police recovered a knife allegedly used in the crime.
The woman, believed to be in her late 50s, was found dead under suspicious circumstances on Siva Temple Street on September 1.
According to the police, Satish took a knife from his house on August 31 after being reprimanded by his father while playing games. He later consumed liquor and went to an isolated place near T.K. Street, where a family friend questioned him and warned him that he would inform his father.
