A 42-year-old cook was allegedly killed with a liquor bottle following an argument at Sengottaiyan Nagar near K.N. Palayam here on Monday (September 14, 2026).

The deceased was identified as Senthilkumar of Sengottaiyan Nagar. He was married and had a daughter. He had gone to another town for cooking work and had not returned home.

On Monday morning, residents who were out for a walk noticed a man lying in a pool of blood in a drainage channel at a vacant site and alerted the Sathyamangalam police. The police recovered the body and sent it to the Government Hospital in Sathyamangalam for post-mortem examination. A beer bottle found near the body led the police to suspect that Senthilkumar had been attacked with it. During the investigation, Vaitheeswaran, 19, of Mariamman Temple Street, K.N. Palayam, was identified as the suspect.
