A 59-year-old woman was injured after a youth fired an air pistol at her following a dispute over a property boundary at Vellayil in Kozhikode on Sunday (October 4, 2026).
The injured woman, Pushpalatha, a native of Chettithoppuparamba, was allegedly shot in the abdomen. The police have taken into custody Shimjith, 40, a native of Vellayil, in connection with the incident.
According to the preliminary investigation, the two had an argument on Sunday morning over a boundary-related issue. Shimjith allegedly used an air pistol that he was carrying and fired at the woman.
She was initially taken to the Kozhikode Government General Hospital and later shifted to the Government Medical College Hospital, Kozhikode, for further treatment.
