’Young women should navigate contemporary professional landscape’

Thiagarajar College hosted an Indian Women Network event focused on leadership, professional networking, and career development for young women. Speakers emphasized the importance of digital presence, communication skills, and entrepreneurial confidence in the modern workplace.
Why it matters
It highlights institutional efforts to bridge the gender gap in professional leadership and entrepreneurship through mentorship and skill-building.
The Women’s Studies Centre of Thiagarajar College organised the Indian Women Network (IWN) Institutional Member Installation Ceremony, featuring a special lecture on “Beyond the Business Card – Leadership, Relationships and the Power of Being Remembered,” here on Monday.
The programme focused on leadership, professional networking, relationship-building and empowering young women to develop the skills and confidence required to navigate the contemporary professional landscape.
Welcoming the gathering, Principal D. Pandiaraja observed that a business card is more than a professional identity. It represents an individual’s character, relationship and contribution.
Delivering the presidential address, college President Uma Kannan emphasised the importance of academic qualifications, confident communication, hard work, technological awareness, adaptability and a strong sense of responsibility.
She encouraged students to establish a positive digital presence and exercise sound judgement in choosing their habits, associations and role models.
