You can learn all about next week's rare solar eclipse over pints in Cork

Astronomy on Tap Cork is hosting an educational event at a local brewery to prepare the public for the upcoming solar eclipse on August 12th. Experts will provide accessible talks on how to safely view the event and the science behind eclipses.
Why it matters
Public engagement events help demystify scientific phenomena and encourage community interest in astronomy.
Here’s a fun way to get eclipse-ready. Astronomy on Tap Cork is returning to the Franciscan Well Brewery this evening, Tuesday, August 4th, with a special Eclipse Edition that’ll explain everything you need to know about one of the biggest astronomical events Ireland has seen in years.
The best part? You can enjoy a pint (and maybe a pizza) while some of Cork’s leading astrophysicists do the talking.
The evening will feature three short, accessible talks covering everything from how to safely watch the eclipse on August 12th, to how astronomers use eclipses to study distant stars, along with a look at eclipses through the lens of Irish language and culture.
