Yogesh Gupta appointed BEVCO MD in Kerala

The Kerala government has appointed Yogesh Gupta as the Managing Director of BEVCO, the state-run liquor corporation. This follows a series of administrative reshuffles and the suspension of a senior IPS officer.
Why it matters
The appointment highlights internal administrative changes and the political scrutiny surrounding law enforcement and state-run enterprises in Kerala.
The State government has transferred Road Safety Commissioner Yogesh Gupta as the Managing Director of the Kerala State Beverages Corporation (BEVCO), while assigning Additional Director General of Police (Armed Police Battalions) Balram Kumar Upadhyay the full additional charge of Director General of Fire and Rescue Services following the retirement of Nitin Agrawal on Friday.
The posting marks a return to BEVCO for Mr. Gupta, who had earlier headed the State-run liquor retailing corporation before being shifted to the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau and later appointed Road Safety Commissioner during a series of top-level police reshuffles.
