YMCA gives Ghanaian pupils recycled-plastic backpacks
The YMCA in Ghana's Western Region has launched the 'Green Bags Outreach' initiative, distributing backpacks made from recycled plastic to school children. The project aims to combine environmental sustainability with educational support.

--> In Ghana’s Western Region, the YMCA gave 50 pupils at Funko M/A School backpacks made from recycled plastic waste. This is the first distribution under the Green Bags Outreach initiative, MyJoyOnline reports .
The distribution began on September 15, 2026, when 50 Green Bags backpacks were handed over to pupils. Each contained notebooks, a mathematics set, a drawing pad, pens, pencils, erasers and sharpeners.
Dear Future Star cards with personalized messages from sponsors for the children were also added to the sets. The first backpack distribution was supported by 20 individual sponsors.
