Yathindra steps in to resolve UoM research scholars’ scholarship issue

Urban Development Minister Yathindra Siddaramaiah on Friday intervened to resolve the scholarship issue affecting Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe research scholars at the University of Mysore (UoM) for the academic year 2026–27.
At a high-level meeting held in Bengaluru, the Minister raised the concerns of the affected scholars with senior officials and directed them to find an immediate solution.
Addressing the issue of scholarship support for 116 eligible research scholars who had qualified in the entrance examination, Dr. Yathindra instructed officials to ensure that all of them are granted admission.
Explaining the university’s position, UoM Vice-Chancellor N.K. Lokanath said the institution was facing financial constraints following the bifurcation of Mandya and Chamarajanagar into separate universities, making it difficult to extend scholarship support to all eligible candidates.
