Why it matters
High-stakes professional sports coverage reflects the intense pressure on management and players during postseason elimination scenarios.
NY Daily News | James O’Connell: The Yankees ran out the same exact lineup in Games 1 and 2 of their ALDS matchup against the Rays, but aside from Ben Rice and his pair of home runs no one else is really contributing. As the series shifts over to New York for Game 3 tonight, manager Aaron Boone was amenable to some lineup tinkering though he wouldn’t get into specifics of who could find their way in and who would get sent to the bench. Some of the more likely candidates to sit include those who both haven’t found their way into a hit yet and also fumbled the ball around in their atrocious Game 2 showing, such as Ryan McMahon and Jazz Chisholm Jr.
