Congress MLA Channareddy Patil Tunnur welcomed new party inductees in Yadgir, praising the state government's welfare schemes. He also criticized the Union government for rising inflation and delays in releasing drought relief funds.
Why it matters
The statement highlights ongoing political tensions between state-level Congress leadership and the central BJP administration regarding economic policy and disaster relief.
Channareddy Patil Tunnur, Congress MLA from Yadgir, stated that the growing attraction towards the Congress party’s ideology and the State government’s welfare programmes would help strengthen the party at the grassroots level.
He was welcoming the new inductees from BJP and JD(s) in Yadgir on Friday (October 2).
Highlighting the State’s development initiatives, Mr. Tunnur credited the former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah-led administration for fulfilling its election promises by implementing the five major guarantee schemes: Shakti, Gruha Lakshmi, Gruha Jyothi, Yuva Nidhi, and Anna Bhagya. He added that these social welfare measures continue to benefit all sections of society under Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar’s tenure.
