Why it matters
The incident highlights ongoing internal family disputes and political tensions involving high-profile political figures in India.
VIJAYAWADA Andhra Pradesh Congress president Y.S. Sharmila has announced that her daughter Anjili Reddy’s wedding will be held at a venue other than the Yelahanka property in Bengaluru, following a controversy over her request to host the wedding at the family property. Ms. Sharmila posted on X on Saturday stating that the Yelahanka property, which was a joint family asset until Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy became Chief Minister, had subsequently been allotted entirely to her and her children as part of the family property division. “After Jagan Mohan Reddy became Chief Minister, the Yelahanka property, which had until then been a joint family asset, came entirely (100%) to my share and that of my children as part of the division of family properties. This is the truth, in the name of God,” she said.
