Xabi Alonso confirms interest in Alejandro Garnacho as Chelsea prepare to sell winger a year after move from Man Utd
Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has confirmed that Alejandro Garnacho is likely to leave the club after a disappointing debut season. The club is looking to offload the winger to manage financial pressures following a season without European football.
Why it matters
The transfer highlights the financial challenges faced by Premier League clubs and the high-stakes nature of player recruitment and squad management.
Alejandro Garnacho’s turbulent time at Stamford Bridge looks set to reach a premature conclusion following comments from new Chelsea head coach Xabi Alonso. The Argentine international, who arrived in West London with high expectations just twelve months ago, is now being linked with a move away as the club looks to reshape its squad.
Alonso has signaled that Garnacho’s Chelsea career is effectively over after just one underwhelming season. Speaking on the player's future, the newly appointed manager refused to offer any guarantees that the former Man United star would be part of his plans moving forward, noting that discussions with the club's hierarchy regarding a transfer are already at an advanced stage.
