World Tiger Day observed with schoolchildren in Chikkamagaluru
Forest officials in Chikkamagaluru organized awareness programs for schoolchildren to celebrate World Tiger Day. The events focused on the importance of tiger conservation and the role of local communities in protecting wildlife habitats.

Officials of the Bhadra Tiger Reserve in Chikkamagaluru district organised a series of awareness programmes on Wednesday to mark World Tiger Day.
In keeping with the 2026 theme, “Securing the Future of Tigers with Indigenous People and Local Communities at Heart,” the Forest Department conducted activities aimed at creating awareness among schoolchildren living in villages on the fringes of the reserve.
The staff of the Muthodi Wildlife Range organised drawing and essay competitions for students of primary schools at Jagara, Kalavase and Kolagame villages. Prizes were distributed to the winners. The children were also taken on a complimentary jungle safari, during which they were introduced to the region’s wildlife and forest ecosystem.
