According to official sources, the rally was flagged off by Thanjavur Medical College Principal I. Manimegala in which awareness pamphlets were distributed to the public by students, who carried placards on eye safety. The Deputy Principal, Superintendent, medical officers, nurses from all departments, and medical students of Thanjavur Medical College took part in the rally.
