World Series 2026: Jacob Misiorowski finds a way, with another assist from the bullpen, to lead Brewers to Game 1 victory
Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Jacob Misiorowski led his team to a 3-2 victory in Game 1 of the 2026 World Series against the Tampa Bay Rays. Misiorowski successfully adapted his pitching strategy to counter the Rays' patient approach at the plate.
Why it matters
The World Series is the pinnacle of professional baseball, and this game represents a critical step in the Brewers' pursuit of their first championship.
MILWAUKEE — Jacob Misiorowski's right arm has been the figurative lightning rod for the 2026 Milwaukee Brewers. Using whatever stat you can think of — ERA, batting average against, WHIP, strikeouts and, of course, average fastball velocity by a starting pitcher — dominance has been the name of the game for the Brewers' 24-year-old flamethrower.
And while the regular season saw Misiorowski consistently dominate hitters, Milwaukee's ace has had to battle through his starts this postseason. He hasn't steamrollered his opponents this month, as opposing lineups have made him work. Even so, there's nobody the Brewers would rather have on the mound in Game 1 of the World Series.
And on Friday, when they were looking to set the tone with the franchise seeking its first World Series title, the Brewers did what they usually do in a Misiorowski start: win.
