World Plastic Surgery Day-2026 was celebrated at the Department of Burns, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery of Government General Hospital (GGH), Guntur, highlighting the role of plastic surgeons in trauma care, cancer reconstruction and limb-saving procedures.
The programme was held under the leadership of Hospital Superintendent Dr. Durga Prasad in the presence of faculty members, M.Ch. postgraduate residents, nursing officers and supporting staff.
Dr. Durga Prasad said the department had grown from having just one or two surgeons into one of Andhra Pradesh's leading reconstructive surgery units.
He noted that the introduction of the M.Ch. Plastic Surgery PG programme three years ago had strengthened patient care, academics and research, further enhancing GGH and Guntur Medical College as a major tertiary referral and teaching institution.
