World Heart Day: Hospitals in Tiruchi, Thanjavur hold awareness events

Hospitals in Tiruchi and Thanjavur organised events on Sunday to raise awareness about cardiac health in connection with the World Heart Day observed on September 29.

A large number of people participated in the 11th edition of the World Heart Day run organised by Kauvery Hospital in Tiruchi under the theme “Run for Your Healthy Heart”.

The event featured three categories — the 21.1-km half marathon, 10-km ‘Challenge Run’ and 5-km ‘Fun Run’. A total prize money of ₹3 lakh was awarded to winners across the categories. Prizes were given away at an event at Anna Stadium.

In his inaugural address, Manivannan Selvaraj, founder and managing director, Kauvery Group of Hospitals, said the awareness run aimed to encourage people to make physical activity and preventive healthcare part of their daily lives.
