Saturday, July 18 brings the 2026 FIFA World Cup's third place game, a matchup between two powers in England and France who each had bigger dreams than a loss in the semifinals.
"None of our players, and none of the French players, wants to play the third-place match," England coach Thomas Tuchel said. "They want to play the final. We gave everything to achieve it."
But the "bronze medal" match brings some opportunities for young players to play on the big stage and for at least one major goodbye. This will be the last match for France boss Didier Deschamps after a historic 14-year run that included the 2018 World Cup title.
