World Bank considers financing Telangana’s programme for sustainable transformation in healthcare
The World Bank is considering a $477 million loan to support a $1.6 billion healthcare transformation program in Telangana. The initiative aims to shift the state's health system toward an integrated, person-centered model to improve service quality and address non-communicable diseases.

The World Bank is actively considering financing the ‘Telangana Strategic Vision for Attaining Sustainable Transformation in Health Care Program’, a programme envisaging improvement in utilisation and quality of priority health services in the State. According to the Bank, the programme involved total financing of US $1,641 million. Out of which, the World Bank Group’s finance would be US $477 million (approximately ₹4,500 crore). Negotiations relating to the programme have started and it is likely to be approved in November.
