A worker was charred to death at a fireworks unit in Virudhunagar district on Saturday.
Chinnathambi fireworks, owned by Jayasakti, had a DRO licence for manufacturing fireworks. The unit had over five sheds and around 20 workers were engaged in their duties. They were carrying chemicals, when an explosion, possibly due to friction, led to a major blaze, a fire official said.
