Wonder scores a $425 million partnership with DoorDash as it builds its food empire

The delivery platform DoorDash is investing in and partnering with Marc Lore-owned food tech company Wonder in deals worth a total of $425 million, the company announced on Tuesday. DoorDash will acquire Wonder’s Grubhub Campus Dining business (formerly Tapingo) for $300 million and will add $125 million to Wonder’s $650 million Series D round , announced in July.
A chain of ghost kitchen food halls designed for delivery, Wonder is trying to take a one-size-fits-all approach to fast casual dining, allowing customers to order food from a variety of different restaurants, all under the same roof. Wonder, founded by veteran e-commerce entrepreneur Marc Lore, whose prior companies were acquired by Amazon and Walmart , is slowly building a takeout empire.
